Climate change does not take a break, and the energy transition needs to pick up speed. Many challenges still lie ahead and in Europe, the difficulties seem to be piling up instead of declining. While building more new wind turbines becomes increasingly hard because of lengthy and complicated permitting processes, the giant hurdle of transforming the energy system towards renewably sourced electricity and away from fossil fuels is looming in the background. Can the EU do better?
