Join us for a guest lecture by former diplomat and policy expert Paul Dziatkowiec: Making Conflict Mediation work in a time of geopolitical crisis!
This lecture will explore how conflict mediators can remain effective when the broader geopolitical environment is working against peace, examining how rivalries between major powers complicate or even sabotage peace processes, and what strategies mediators can use to work around those pressures.
We will also look at real-world case studies, such as conflicts in Ukraine or the Middle East, to draw practical lessons for mediation practice. Finally, we will address the future prospects for mediation actors and their methods, and assess whether existing tools and frameworks need to be fundamentally reimagined for a more fragmented and polarized world.
