The EU Delegation to Singapore is looking for 2 interns for remunerated traineeships of 6 months each for graduate students.
What we offer?
1 paid traineeship within the Political, Press and Information Section and 1 paid traineeship within the Trade and Economic Section.
Main tasks:
1. Political, Press and Information Section
The selected trainee will work in the Political, Press & Information section of the EU Delegation to Singapore. S/he will be asked to monitor political developments in Singapore and in the region, as well as contribute to the Delegation's reporting on political developments in the ASEAN. S/he will assist in the organisation of conferences, seminars, talks and events linked to the main areas of work of the Delegation. These include areas of security, climate change, education and culture. S/he will be assist with the Press & Information activities of the Delegation.
Profile - Excellent background in politics and global affairs, or a very strong proven capacity in one of those fields
- Specific knowledge of Singapore and/or ASEAN
- Excellent Interpersonal skills and ability to work independently
- Fluency in English
2. Trade & Economic Section
The selected trainee in the trade section will work on various aspects of EU-Singapore trade and economic relations, including the upcoming implementation of the Free Trade Agreement (FTA); market access issues and/or regulatory issues. The assignment will also cover the monitoring of economic developments in Singapore, as well as trade regional initiatives involving Singapore and/or the EU. An individual work plan will be agreed at the beginning of the internship on the basis of the needs of the section at the time. This work plan could include the handling of specific current issues and / or a research project. The intern will also be involved in regular reporting on trade issues, attending and reporting on meetings, speeches and seminars, and providing research support to the section as necessary.
Profile
- General understanding of international trade and economics
- Awareness of the Singaporean economy and market,
- Legal, economic or trade background would be an advantage e.g. for dealing with rules and regulatory aspects of trade
- Motivation to work in a multinational team,
- Fluency in English.
Are you eligible for remunerated traineeship?
You may apply for the remunerated traineeship if:
You are a young graduate
You have less than 1 year of professional experience
You are a national of an EU Member State, pre-accession State or from Singapore
You have no previous professional experience in any of the EU institutions of more than 6 weeks
What are the general rules?
Duration: The traineeship cannot exceed six months
Monthly Grant: Selected trainees will receive a monthly grant
Visa: Trainees are responsible for obtaining and covering the cost of necessary visa
Travel: Trainees have to arrange and finance their travel to the EU Delegation
Accommodation: The trainee will have to cover the accommodation costs
